Hicks Bay Motor Lodge

Hicks Bay is an established forty room accommodation with a sixty seat restaurant located midway on the Pacific Coast Highway from Opotiki to Gisborne with over seventy marae between the two points. Hicks Bay is a natural, spiritual environment populated by indigenous New Zealanders. Hicks Bay employs local people whose whanau have protected this environment for thousands of years. The coastal area is important to Maori culture, it is thought habitation in these parts began during the Toi period about 11th century, which pre-dates the great migration fleet by 200 years.
